Stephen LaFrenie is the Green Party of Canada representative for Trinity-Spadina, and he has agreed to join us this Saturday (Oct 4th) at linuxcaffe, to discuss the party platforms, the SPP agreement (google; North American Union) and the importance of this upcoming election. All are welcome, bring friends, video cameras and contributions.
UPDATE: Thanks to Ben and Suzy and friends
for a magical melodious evening !
We should turn the lights out more often.

On Saturday March 29, 8-9pm, linuxcaffe will join thousands of other businesses and people in Toronto (and millions worldwide) in flicking the switch, turning appliances off stand-by and enjoying an hour of quiet darkness. Earth Hour shows that, together, our small actions can make a difference to global warming.

PART 1: BUILDING THE GREEN ECONOMY
7. Open source computer software
As computer hardware improves, it is important that software programs are readily modifiable by the people who buy and use them.

We want to be the greenest caffe on the block, and reduce the amount of garbage we generate. Our neighbours introduced us to GreenShift, suppliers of saner disposables, mostly bio-degradable and with less evil chemical processes. The cups cost more, and we considered just raising our prices to cover it, but decided, instead, to raise awareness.
