It's really annoying because it's completely unnecessary.

At linuxcaffe, we use nothing but linux.
..OK, maybe the odd Mac, but we have no Windows(tm) boxes running, and because of that, we almost never even see InternetExplorer. When we DID have a look at our site, on a customers Windoze box, we realized that this website is a TRAIN WRECK as viewed with that very popular, but non-standards compliant browser. Having seen this, we're making steps to fix it up, with all the usual kludgy IE workarounds, but until then, if you want to enjoy this little bit of the web, in all it's glory, run a real browser; Mozilla Firefox.

Hello folks. A local government site here in Toronto, Canada, has an on-line means for people to apply for subsidized housing -- but only if they use the Windows operating system. The site is http://www.housingconnections.ca

I find it both irritating, and a little ironic, that people in need of subsidized housing are required to have expensive proprietary software to utilize the on-line application process.

This afternoon two young, fresh faced representatives of the Liberal party dropped by for a take-out coffee, and left with ubuntu disks and an earful.. and two steaming cups of our fine dark organic roast.
