Dell discovers what the consumer wants.

In mid February Dell in the United States opened a new sight called Dell Idea Storm http://www.dellideastorm.com/ The plan was to find out what new and innovative things the public wanted from this giant in the computer sales industry. It should have been simple.

The overwhelming reaction from the public however is that Dell needs to start selling Linux ready computers . Linux and Open Source software rose to the top of the list right away, users want Linux-based laptops and PCs. They want Firefox, not Internet Explorer. They are asking for Computers that have Linux pre-installed or at the least no Windows system, They are offended that they are being asked to pay for an operating system that they will not be using.

The folks at Dell have their Linux engineering site "Dell Linux Community Web" http://linux.dell.com/. I had been looking for this site for some time and I suspect that it existed but on a very limited basis. In the United States the Linux ready N-Series laptops are available and but they are not available in Canada, yet.
