My first major shell scripting project, written about 15 years ago, was a user-extensible database with report generator.

Since then, I have written shell scripts for everything from analyzing log files to generating postscript and filtering mail from a POP3 server and delivering it to a local mail spool.

I am the author of the book Shell Scripting Recipes: A Problem-Solution Approach, published in 2005 by Apress.
