As a result of our awesome street party, plans are already underway
for next year.
Thanks to generous donations, we have generated a small
surplus that will be used to open up a Jersey Street Party Trust bank account.
Details will be made available on the Jersey Ave homepage;
www.linuxcaffe.ca/jersey
and you can still make contact with the organizers by sending email to
jerseystreetparty@gmail.com
There was much lively discussion about our neighbourhood, and how we could
do more things together, so expect to see more work on the website, and people
at your door with information about upcoming events and shared resources.
Do you have any ideas about what you'd like to see at next years party ?
Did you get any good photos from last Saturdays bash ?
Are there things you think would make living around here even better ?
send photos, ideas, comments or concerns to;

Saturday August 18th. 2007
Residents, friends and neighbours will be closing off Jersey Ave to vehicular traffic, between Harbord and Clinton, from about 1:30pm to 10:30pm, to get festive, share food, music and laughter in our own front yards, or garages, which ever the case may be.
Plans for the inaugural event are well underway, with some
artists, musicians and BBQists are ready to go, but there's still plenty of room for your participation. The very easiest thing would be to reply to a comment below, but you can also send email to jerseystreetparty@gmail.com, or call
Michael McMurtry at 416-539-8437,
or knock on his door at 83 Jersey.
He said it would be OK, and the whole thing was his idea, anyway.
Think about what to bring for the big pot-luck dinner, like food, wine, chairs, plates, candles and cake. Think about who we'd like to hear play, whose art we'd like to see more of, who makes the best lasagna. Think of fun stuff for the kids, and about what to do if it rains.
Applications and diagrams have been sent (and resent, and clarified) to the city (and approved) and at the request of Joe Pantalone, we circulated a petition, and found an overwhelming consensus for the idea. So the only big hurtle is figuring out how to break other plans you may have had that Saturday, and convincing neighbours to do something else with the cars, that day.

Agenda
Although far from finalized the agenda points that have come up are;
Michael is co-ordinating musicians, bands and groups requiring amplification will be lined up for the stage area, and and soloists and mobile acts are invited to play all over the place, all day. For dinner (7pm-8pm) it would be nice to arrange something acoustic and suitable as background dining music. .
Volunteers
Your input is needed and what we also need now is volunteers, volunteers, and more volunteers. We need help with the coordination of activities such as music, the organization of food and drink, and, last but not least, a clean-up crew! If you can help with any of these things, please contact us right away.
Whether you’d like to volunteer or just want to party please let us know so we can count you in and be better prepared.
Many thanks and we look forward to hearing from you!
PartyPlotter.ca
is a web-based party organizing application, made by our good friend David Gibbons, over at WebTropolis. In order to have access to all the functions, someone (me) has to give you administrator status. send email to jerseystreetparty@gmail.com, if you want write access.
I'm still working out
some bugs. it ain't working quite right, yet.
Liquor Permit deadline
may have passed. In order to obtain one, somebody had to follow the instructions at this link we may have already blown it.. :-( as it says something about 30 days lead time.
Clean-up Crew
It's a dirty job, and someone's got to do it. Volunteers ?
I'm good for at least two hours
[he cheerfully said to himself]
CALLING ALL NEIGHBOURHOOD ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS !
this is basically the last week to psych yourself up for a live appearance at the Jersey Street Party; artists in the tiny laneway, and musicians on-stage and all over. You know who has talent, and now's the time to call them up and call them out!
